Don't let your strength become your weakness

Sometimes too much success is the reason behind self stress and anxiety, yes! You read it right, let’s just start with one of my friend’s story; she had an amazing, loving family and friends circle. Her life was great, she was doing a great job, success kept knocking on her door one after the other opportunity, but this made her alone!! Everyone considered her perfect, everyone thought that she was the best no one could beat her in any competition that’s why she start hiding her fears, her guilts, her sadness because she thought if she shared her issues with anyone this would affect her image and   struggle of hiding her emotions, she started losing herself! At start she only suffered from stress but slowly the stress lead to anxiety, she started taking sleeping pills, she also became a hypertensive patient, this is the time we all noticed her behavioral changes and one of my friend who was a doctor advised her to visit a psychologist, at first she refused, but then with our support and love she agreed, she took 5 sessions of psychotherapy, and as I mentioned above she was a successful lady so she defeated her stress and anxiety by understanding this, that nobody is perfect, everyone has insecurities and it’s natural. This thought gave her new hopes and a new vision, and now she is a happy soul inside out.

Depression

Depression is basically a mood disorder which occur as a result of stress and which disturb us mentally’ physically as well as socially. Depression occurs in episodes, its one episode help us to predict about future episodes. More than 50% individual sufferings from depression have chances of recurrence. Depressive episodes include depressed mood’ fatigability’ aggression’ lack of confidence and lose of interest in life. Currently, young generation seems to face depression due to number of factors which include exam related stress’ confidence issues’ and unemployment. One of the most common cause of depression now a days, which i am going to discuss in my blog is weight complex among young generation. The trend of being dissatisfied with body weight and behaviors of weight control increases the risk of depression among young adults. The individual starts feeling worthless, incapable and incompetent, He might thinks that everybody has a taunting or pity attitude towards him and as a result he start losing interest in normal daily activities, have low self esteem and an overall feeling of inadequacy, feeling of hopelessness, and difficulty with productivity. These feelings create negative impact on relationships, employment, education and other daily activities. The two main eating disorders which effects a weight conscious individual are Bulimia Nervosa and Anorexia Nervosa, these two are more commonly occurring among young girls, Bulimia Nervosa is a condition in which girls are suffering from stress of not gaining weight as a result they goes in depression and start following abnormal cycles of eating large amount of food in short period of time, and then get rid of this food by vomiting to consume more food, whereas, Anorexia Nervosa is characterized by fear of gaining weight as a result individual starts dieting or skipping meal of two times, thus in this war of weight gaining or losing, a serious change in mood occur which leads to depression and that cause disruption to life activities. After my final exams of BBA 7th semester I start internship at a private school, I was teaching 2nd grade students. As we all know that not every student has same mental level but in the race of first and last we all destroy our child’s personality. So there was a kid in my class who was middle child of their parents, he was so different from his others classmate, he was so shy and reserve, he don’t participate in any extracurricular activity nor he play with his mates during break time. After first assessment he didn’t do good in his exams, he was fail in 3 out of 6 subjects, at parent teacher meeting when I meet with his parents they seem so sensible but when we start discussion  about his progress and behavior they get aggressive and start cursing their child, they are comparing him with his elder brother who was in class 4th and was a bright student, then I got the reason behind my student’s failure and his reserved behavior, basically he was suffering from depression! I check his nursery and 1 class result and that was more than average, but due to His parents attitude of continuously comparing him with his brother he start losing his identity and was become a depressed soul, he don’t find any way to get out of all this and as a result he grades are affected badly as they were before. After know about his psyche I call a meeting with his parents and request them to understand their child mental state, treat him with love and care and don’t compare him with anybody otherwise they will lost him, my advise effects their heart and they promise to co-operate, and I start helping the child on my end I gave him home tuition, with my attention and his parents love he start doing good in studies and he got 3rd position in his final assessment and hence proved when there is a will, there is a way!
